Naturally sustainable
Respectful treatment of both people and animals is especially important to the Schmidt family. Freshly served game from our own wildlife preserve is one of our culinary specialties. Everything, from raising the animals and feeding them with the finest homegrown brewery grain to preparation, is handled entirely in-house. A tour with the host is impressive and well worth seeing.
Our fallow deer
Fallow deer are considered very suitable for enclosure farming as they are hardy, become accustomed to humans, and exhibit generally harmonious behavior among themselves.
Currently, between 80 and 90 fallow deer "reside" in our spacious enclosure.
Additionally, they are the perfect recyclers for the abundant spent grain produced from our whisky and beer production.
Ricco & Ricci
We’ve welcomed new additions.
In the form of a little raven pair named Ricco and Ricci.
By now, the two are no longer behind their "uncle" Charly in terms of size or appetite.
Anton - the lucky pig
The title fits in two ways here!
Anton was incredibly lucky to be found, and we were fortunate to get a new pet with Anton, who surprises and delights us every day.
As the pictures show, the once little, cute "Toni" has already grown into a fine fellow.
